Maintain and ventilate your boiler
You tackle the following challenges:
That's how you do it
There is a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning with most heating appliances. Breathing carbon monoxide (CO) can cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, fainting and even death.
Good ventilation and maintenance of your boiler not only prevent CO poisoning. A properly adjusted appliance also consumes less energy and emits less CO 2 and polluting substances.
Tips
- Make sure that the room in which your heating device is located is always well ventilated, for example via air vents. Also ensure good ventilation in the rest of the building.
- Have your heating appliances checked annually by a recognized professional. Also have your chimney cleaned regularly.
- Place enough CO detectors and hang them in the right place.
- Replace outdated appliances with a new heating system .
Knowing more
Carbon monoxide (CO) is an invisible, odorless but poisonous gas. Carbon monoxide is produced by the incomplete combustion of fuels such as gas, wood, fuel oil or coal. Carbon monoxide poisoning can be due to an incorrectly installed, faulty or malfunctioning combustion appliance, damaged exhaust ducts, poor ventilation or incorrect heating behaviour. When using electric heating appliances, no CO can be generated.
