General information

There are many livestock farms in the municipality of Sint-Anthonis. That is why, in 2021, volunteers will expand the measurement trajectory to include the concentration of ammonia. These measurements are performed with Palmes tubes. In the same way, they also measure the concentration of nitrogen dioxide. The citizen scientists are financially supported by the municipality for two years to carry out these new measurements.

The tubes are changed monthly by the volunteers. The laboratories of Buro Blauw and Gradko are involved in the project. They analyze the measurement data. This data can be followed via the Meten Together data portal of the RIVM. RIVM also provides support in calibrating the ammonia measurements. The citizen scientists want to use the measurements to gain insight into the amount of particulate matter, ammonia and nitrogen dioxide in their living environment. They are curious about the relationship between the substances.
