General information

Air quality is measured throughout Southeast Brabant using a regional monitoring network. The aim is to gain insight into the concentration and sources of air pollution and to promote clean air on that basis. The measuring network consists of measuring cabinets containing sensor systems. With this, the regional measuring network measures, among other things, particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide. The emphasis is on measuring in the area around the cities, Eindhoven Airport and rural areas with a lot of livestock farming.

All data from the monitoring network are public. In this way residents can see for themselves how the air quality is in their area. The Regional Monitoring Network thus provides a unique basis for research into and innovation in our immediate living environment.

Measurements

TNO, RIVM and Utrecht University – IRAS have selected the measurement locations in the network. They used calculations of the air quality in the area. The monitoring network is set up in such a way that a region-wide picture is created. Part of the network will be set up flexibly. This also allows temporary measurement campaigns to be set up.

The measuring cabinets are provided by TNO. Information about the sensors and the method of calibration can be found in this document . As part of the project, the participating knowledge parties are conducting research into the quality and applicability of the measurements.

The measured values can be found under the code 'ILM' on the Meten Together data portal . The data stream for particulate matter was realized in April 2021. The measurement data for nitrogen dioxide will be added in the foreseeable future.

Collaboration

The project is a partnership between the Municipality of Eindhoven, the Province of North Brabant, the Southeast Brabant Environment Agency (ODZOB), AiREAS, GGD, TNO, Utrecht University - IRAS and RIVM.

As secretary of the group, the ODZOB manages the project website https://odzob.nl/meetnet. On the website you will find newsletters and answers to frequently asked questions.
